European thatched house, by Lydia Roetter Castelhun, approximately 1859-1860.  While many of Lydia's works were likely copied from educational art books, this one may have been copied from a now unknown work of her father Paulus Roetter due to the small details of the distant town and mountain.  This scene was probably set in Switzerland (which she had never been to).
